About K-Drama History
K-Drama History exists for one kind of moment: you're deep into a Korean historical drama, something happens on screen that clearly matters to the characters — a haircut, a bow, a refused marriage — and you have no idea why. We explain why.
Each article starts from a single scene in a drama you already love, then opens it into the real history behind it: Korean dynasties, Confucian values, court life — and, our favorite part, how the same idea played out elsewhere in the world, both East and West. We don't just translate Korean history; we put it in conversation with the world.
Who writes this
Kim Tae-hoon (김태훈) is a Korean history educator who teaches East Asian, world, and Korean history. He created the YouTube channel 사뚱샘의 역사방 (Sadong's History Room), home to 570+ history lectures, and previously taught for EBS, South Korea's national public educational broadcaster.
The history here is written and fact-checked by a working historian. The aim is simple: history that's accurate, and told as a story worth reading.
